Not Our Typical Summer

We usually spend most of our days outside during the summer months.

Our evenings are usually spent on the swing watching the day turn to night and listening to the sounds of nature.

But not this summer.

This has been one of the hottest summers I can remember.

Most of our days have been spent inside trying to keep cool and busy.

We did enjoy some time at a friend’s pool recently. A great way to spend the day fellowshipping and beating the heat.

Even the blueberries we usually pick are not as plentiful this year due to lack of rain and the extreme heat. But we did get enough to freeze some, which Hope was eager help with.

Once again the Lord gave us what we need at just the right time. We have been getting some rain recently, on a consistent basis, so I am hoping those blueberries will soon be ready to pick.

Since our summer has been spent inside more than out I am having a hard time believing fall is just around the corner. But school will be starting soon, the unbearable days of heat and humidity will be a faint memory, and the days will give way to crisp air and plentiful sunshine.

And you will find us on a blanket, under a tree, enjoying our school work outside.

So while our summer has not been typical, our school days aren’t either.
