School is starting, the evenings are getting chilly, and soon we will see some bright colors decorating the trees. Fall is on it’s way. (Okay, yesterday was at least 100* with the heat index but I am dreaming here, okay?
And of course there is soccer. Yes, last Saturday we spent our day at Ryan’s first soccer tournament of the season. What a fun way to spend our Saturday together.
Seth helped out during the first two games. There were a few players missing so he got to play during the second two games, in spite of the fact he is a little too old for the team.
It was great watching the boys play together again.
The tournament consisted of teams from lots of Christian schools so it was a great environment.
Hope had a wonderful time making friends. By the time we left almost everyone on the sidelines knew her name.
We had a couple of hours between the games so she had fun on the very cool playground and making more new friends. These two little boys asked her name as soon as we walked on the playground. They were so kind to her and included her in their play.
Of course she helped Coach Pete and Mr. Richard coach the game.
Ricky had to work, which is typical for him on weekends. But he called several times to see how the games were going. Of course we missed him being with us but in his business he works most weekends. So we have learned to be flexible.
Such a fun way to spend a Saturday together, fellowshipping with other Christians, and supporting the children in what they enjoy.

Everyone looks like they had a great time! Oh how I remember going to all of those soccer games for C.J. and Whitney! Well, she didn't play for nearly as long and went on to find other interests.
Some of our fondest memories were made watching C.J. make some incredible goals, field some, and block some. We made some great friends too! Plus, it is very inspiring to the kids when they know we support them in their interests...and the siblings support them too!
Sports and other activities does bring some focus on God. Are we being good examples for others to see? Are we using all of the talents God gave us? Do others see Christ's love shine through us as we support our fellow teammates and their parents?
Very well said Trish. We have found so many benefits from the children playing sports. Some went on to find interest in music as well and we have found the same to be true there as well. Since we as parents have no idea what God has in our children's future Ricky and I have always felt we needed to support them in their interests and God would open the doors He wanted for them.
